NLP Tips & Techniques
There are techniques for changing and improving just about anything you do! All
of the techniques work to some extent if you follow them carefully - you may
need to improvise a little at times. For example a lot of NLP techniques appear
to rely heavily on having a great ability to visualise - even though many people
do not visualise very clearly. Here you simply pretend that you are visualising
- and the techniques will work just as well!
NLP techniques are designed to be used alongside a lot of subtle skills such
rapport, calibration, language patterns, anchoring, etc. which really need to be
learned in live training sessions where you are interacting with others and have
feedback from the trainer. Nevertheless you can still obtain results through
using them on their own.
NLP is more about attitude and modelling than techniques, however practising
techniques - and noticing the response you get is a good way of developing your
NLP skills. Ultimately if you practice techniques well you will find that you
begin to use them holistically - taking the pieces you need to move your client
to where he or she wants to go. |

The Fundamental Principles
of NLP
Recognise that each person’s ‘truth’ is true for them even if it differs from
your ‘truth’ – since our internal version of reality is just that – a ‘version’
of reality.
Act as if people have all the resources they need even if they do not currently
have access to these resources.
Discover the other person’s perceptions before you begin to influence
themRecognise that in any situation a person is making the best choice with the
resources which they currently perceive as being available to them.
Take responsibility for how others respond to you.
Recognise that people interact with their internal ‘versions’ of reality rather
than with pure, sensory-based, input.
